Make My LA is an independent editorial morning portal for people who live in Los Angeles. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Los Angeles or MyLA311.

There is no login and there are no user accounts. Hearts, saves and dismissed cards stay in this browser using localStorage. They are not sent to us and we do not build a profile of you.

We log anonymous daily page loads of this site: the path (/ or /privacy), the Pacific calendar day, an optional neighborhood already present in the URL as hood=, and whether the request looks like a browser or a bot. These are counts, not people. We do not store IP addresses, do not set identity cookies, do not fingerprint devices, and do not build profiles. We do not sell this data.

We fetch public weather from Open-Meteo, public sports schedules from ESPN, and public event listings — citywide feeds plus neighborhood BID, village, library, and city calendars. Some civic items are standing calendar rules tied to real venues — farmers markets, museum hours, park programming. If a live source fails, we show editorial fallback so the brief still reads. We do not invent events.
